Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
The benefits provided under this warranty are in addition to other rights and remedies available to you under law in relation to the goods to which this warranty relates.

The warranty period runs from the date of delivery or collection.
Exclusions
This warranty does not cover wear and consumable parts (such as pegs, guy ropes, zip pulls, seals, gas canisters, and globes), damage caused by storm, accident or impact, misuse, failure to maintain the product in accordance with the manual (including stated inflation pressures, load limits and wind ratings), damage caused by packing the product away wet, or unauthorised modification. These exclusions do not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
How to make a claim
- Email hello@oftenoutdoors.com with your proof of purchase (order number or receipt).
- Include the product serial or batch number where the product has one. On tents this is usually on a label inside the inner tent or on the carry bag.
- Attach a photograph or short video of the issue and a brief description of what happened.
How claims are handled
We are responsible for resolving your claim. You do not need to contact the manufacturer. We assess claims at our West End location, and where a repair cannot be completed by us we arrange it with the manufacturer’s authorised service agent on your behalf and remain your point of contact throughout. We bear the reasonable costs of assessing and remedying valid warranty claims, including parts, labour, and return freight. We aim to resolve claims within 7 business days.
Returning the product to us
You are responsible for returning products that can be posted or easily returned. Where the product is large, heavy or hard to remove — such as a rooftop tent, a large ground tent, or bulky furniture — we pay the shipping cost or collect it. If we confirm the product has a problem, we reimburse any reasonable return costs you have already paid, so keep your postage or transport receipts.
If no fault is found
If we assess the product and find it does not have a problem, we may ask you to pay the collection and inspection costs. We will give you a reasonable estimate of those costs before we collect the product, and you can decide at that point whether to proceed.

Description
The Often Alligator is a soft-shell inflatable rooftop tent that combines the covered protection of a hard-shell design with the quick-inflation convenience of an air-beam structure. At 220cm × 160cm × 136cm and rated for 2–3 adults, it's one of the more spacious rooftop tents in the Often range — and the 1000D Oxford carry bag with 3000mm+ waterproofing signals this is a tent built for serious, repeated use.
Soft Shell Meets Inflatable Technology
Where traditional hard-shell rooftop tents rely on spring-loaded pop-up mechanisms, the Alligator's 10cm air column system does the work instead. The result: a structurally rigid tent that sets up via inflation rather than unfolding poles, protected in transit by a heavy-duty 1000D Oxford carry bag. Crucially, you can deflate the tent and leave the base inflated on your roof rack between trips — the cover goes over the base and keeps it clean and weatherproof on the road.
Dual-Layer Weather Protection
The main tent body is 200g Premium Polyester-Cotton fabric with 400mm+ base water resistance. The 300D Oxford raincover (3000mm+ WR) provides the primary weather seal. This dual-layer approach keeps the inner breathable and condensation-free while the outer handles Australian rain events — from tropical downpours to east-coast storm fronts.
Integrated Air Mattress
The Alligator ships with a 220cm × 160cm × 15cm air mattress that inflates via the same 10cm air column system. No separate pump or sleeping mat needed. The floor is covered and comfortable from the moment inflation is complete.
What's in the box
- Inflatable base and tent. They travel as one unit and inflate on separate valves. Being able to deflate the tent on its own is what makes the cover below useful.
- Wheeled carry bag with a pull handle.
- Base cover. Deflate the tent, leave the base inflated, put the cover over it. About a minute of work, and the base stays on your rack as a closed, solid platform — so you can move to the next spot, or drive home, without packing the whole tent down. You can also load gear on top of the base in that state: the base itself takes up to 2.5 tonnes, though the figure that actually governs is whatever your roof rack, bars or tray are rated for, and that is almost always the lower of the two.
