About Often Outdoors

Often Outdoors: Swedish-Inspired Design, Built for the Australian Outdoors

Often was born from a simple observation: the gear that survives a Scandinavian winter and the gear that survives an Australian summer are solving the same problem from opposite ends. Both punish anything badly made. Both reward design that is quiet, honest and built to last. We started Often Outdoors in Brisbane to bring those two worlds together — Swedish design thinking, engineered for Australian conditions.

Design that says less and does more

Scandinavian design has a discipline to it: nothing decorative, nothing that isn't earning its place. A camping table with a clean line and no wobble. A tent whose structure is the design, not something hidden under a print. We take that approach seriously, because in the outdoors it isn't an aesthetic preference — it's a practical one. Fewer parts means fewer things to lose in the dark, fewer things to snap in the wind, and less to think about when you're setting up at the end of a long drive.

That's why our range keeps coming back to the same idea: gear that works the first time, in the rain, without the manual.

Built for Australia, not adapted to it

Australia isn't a mild testing ground. UV that degrades cheap fabric in a season, coastal wind that finds every weak seam, red dust that gets into every zip, and a temperature range that goes from a frozen high-country morning to 40°C on the same trip. Gear designed for European summers doesn't simply transfer here.

So we specify for these conditions from the start — silver-coated fabrics for UV and heat, structures that hold in wind rather than just standing up in still air, and materials that keep working after a season of dust and salt. Our inflatable tents, rooftop and ground, carry a two-year warranty, which is the most direct way we know to say we expect them to last.

Why inflatable

Poles are the worst part of camping. They're the part that takes the longest, needs two people, gets threaded wrong in the dark, and eventually snaps somewhere three hours from the nearest town. Air beams solve all of that at once: one pump, one person, a few minutes, and a structure that flexes in wind instead of fighting it.

It's the clearest example of how we choose what to make. Not the most familiar option — the one that removes the most friction from an actual trip.

The full kit, not just the tent

A good trip isn't decided by one item. It's the chair you're happy to sit in for three hours, the table that doesn't rock when you're cooking on it, the light that's bright enough to find something in a bag, the cooler that still has ice on day three. We build the whole camp, so the pieces work together instead of being an accumulation of whatever was on sale.

You can browse the range by inflatable tents, camping furniture, coolers, fire and BBQ, lighting and vehicle accessories, or see everything we make.
